A seal of quality for bilingual education in French and another language

The seal is granted to schools promoting French language and culture as part of their specific curriculum.

CIS’s French Bilingual Program endeavours to connect the Alberta curriculum with French culture and language, further linking our students to the world and opening possibilities for their future studies.

This certification attests to:

  • Our enhanced instruction of the French language. The seal requires that at least one non-language subject is taught in French and this must account for at least 20% of the weekly teaching schedule. Our bilingual program students study in French for 40% of each week.
  • The qualifications, diplomas and French-language level of the teachers working in bilingual classes. All of our Bilingual Program teachers are not only francophone, but Alberta-certified.
  • The ability of students to take and succeed in official French-language certification exams (DELF-DALF) administered by France’s France Education International.
  • The provision of a French-speaking environment (educational resources, school partnerships, etc.).
