Model United Nations, also known as MUN, is an extra-curricular activity in which students roleplay delegates to the United Nations and simulate UN committees.
Our MUN Club sent a team of 11 Grade 6 and 7 student-delegates to participate in the iCAN MUN Conference on February 14 and 15. The delegates met twice a week to prepare for this conference.
CIS delegates delivered an opening speech and debated resolutions regarding their specific topics–all the while speaking in the terminology used at the United Nations. Students interacted with the guest speaker Ms. Pauline Tamesis, the UN Resident Coordinator of Cambodia; wrote resolutions on current world affairs; delivered speeches on issues facing humanity while representing a specific country; learned the ways in which the MUN conferences work; and made new friends.
Our students performed exceptionally well. CIS’s own Max Yee, Grade 7, won Best Delegate for his committee. Congratulations to all the CIS MUN delegates on showing the world how you Create, Inspire, and Succeed!
Our next MUN conference is in March, where we will visit Northbridge International School with delegates from 10 schools in Cambodia.
